Auto Tech Students Win Scholarship

Student Background

Austin Williams and Trevor Befort are seniors from Granite Bay High School who are enrolled in a second year automotive course with 49er ROP. They completed Automotive Services last year and are now enrolled in the community-based program, Automotive Technology, where they receive hands-on-training at a training site four days a week. Both boys plan on attending UTI in the Fall.

Program Description

Austin Williams and Trevor Befort are students in 49er ROP's Automotive Technology class at Woodcreek High School, an advanced community-based automotive program.

Outcomes

Austin Williams and Trevor Befort competed and won 1st place in the UTI High School Top Tech Challenge. Both were awarded a $1000.00 URI scholarship after outscoring ten teams!

Students competed in hands-on and written automotive testing on:
• Vehicle parts
• Brakes
• Diagnostics
• Electric Systems

UTI also donated a SNAP-ON-Tool Box and tools for the 49er ROP Auto Services/Technology class.
