Internship Hires Student as Medical Assistant
ROP student Silvestre Hernandez knew he had an interest in the medical field when he took ROP's medical terminology class at Apple Valley High School during his junior year.
Silvestre wanted to learn more about the medical field and continued with ROP in his senior year by taking Emergency First Responder, EKG Technician and Medical Assisting.
Not only is Silvestre graduating from high school this year, but he also has a job lined up as a Medical Assistant at Mojave Radiation Oncology in Apple Valley. He completed his internship at Mojave Radiation Oncology while enrolled in Mrs. Dawson-Walker’s Medical Assisting Class at Apple Valley High School. Silvestre will attend Victor Valley College and plans to transfer to Loma Linda University in the future.
Silvestre says, “ROP has been a stepping stone and a great learning experience. When I go to college I will have basic medical knowledge, along with work experience.”
