Student Success Story
Submitted By: Riverside County Office of Education CTE
Josh was referred to the Riverside County School of Career Education by the Department of Rehabilitation. He had wanted to work with children ever since he’d volunteered at a day care center when he was thirteen.
Josh enrolled in the Child Care Occupations class, which included work experience training at an internship site. After completing the course, Josh had training certificates in Child Care Occupations and in the Think Together Afterschool Program. “I also received the Work Readiness Certificate of Training that prepared me with job search skills in Child Care Occupations,” shared Josh.
Following a lead from his SCE instructor, Josh applied and was hired for a job at PE4RKids as an Assistant Instructor. The internship experience also helped him meet the prerequisite internship hours required to enroll in UC Riverside’s Child Development Extension program, where he is now attending classes.
