Making Your Interests Work for You

Student Background

At a young age, Daniel Scotti knew he was interested in technology and wanted to pursue his passion.

Program Description

Daniel first heard about the Baldy View ROP’s Stage Design and Technology course from a peer. Shortly after, Daniel was enrolled in Professor Bill Cox’s class at Upland High School. During his time in the course, Daniel was able to find work, utilize his skills, and begin making a career for himself.

Outcomes

After Daniel graduated high school, he enrolled at Citrus College and began taking prerequisites for the Recording Arts Program. One of the prerequisite classes was Stage Design. On the first day of class Daniel’s experience and skills were recognized and he was offered employment as a technician for the college’s Performing Arts Center.

While in college, Daniel was offered a part-time position as an Audio Visual Lighting (AVL) Technician with Saddleback Church in Orange County. By the end of that year, Daniel was asked to work full-time as a Systems Manager for Saddleback’s new community building, The Refinery. During the construction of the building, he was responsible for researching, purchasing, and securing AVL equipment and systems. Once The Refinery opened, Daniel was responsible for training student volunteers. Many of the volunteers now work on staff at Saddleback or Disneyland in Technical Services.

Recently, Daniel was promoted to Technical Production Director with the Saddleback Churches. He now oversees all production elements at Saddleback which has an average weekly audience of 20,000 people. Daniel thanks Bill Cox and Baldy View ROP for giving him the opportunity and experience of a solid foundation in technical theater.
