Hopeful Firefighter Begins Career Pathway
Chris was getting closer to the end of his high school education and looking forward to beginning a career as a firefighter, but he really had no idea where to start.
Chris completed three ROP programs. Due to the high demand for the Emergency Medical Responder class, Chris opted to take the class during the summer so that he could enroll in Emergency Medical Technician the following semester. He also enrolled in Fire Technology. Through all three of these courses, Chris said that he was able to learn the "necessary skills, equipment, and mindset need to succeed in public service."
Shortly after completing the EMT course with ROP, Chris passed the National Registry Exam. He is currently enrolled in the Fire Academy at Santa Ana College while he takes classes at Santiago Canyon College. Soon, he will apply to begin volunteering in the emergency room at UC Irvine so that he can receive additional hands-on experience before he applies with ambulance services.
