Student Success Story

Dispassionate Student Becomes Engaged
Like many students, Karina went to school everyday and took notes. Then, she went home to spend most of her evening doing homework. She had difficulty staying focused because she did not feel a personal connection with her schoolwork. It wasn't until her senior year that she found something that would become a true passion- Culinary Arts!
Karina enrolled in ROP's Culinary Arts Internship class at Tustin High School. Although the class required Karina to take the bus to class three times a week, she didn't mind. She was finally doing something that she loved. She completed the internship and enrolled in two of ROP's advanced culinary classes. In the advanced classes she stood out as a confident leader and helped her teams succeed in culinary competitions throughout the state.
Karina's experiences in ROP helped her create an exceptional resume and resulted in several internship offers. Prior to graduating from high school, she was accepted to the Culinary Institute of America. She hopes to someday become a culinary teacher as a way of giving back.
