ROP Connection to Industry Yields Job Offer

Student Background

William Martinez, class of 2012, was a star pupil in his Digital Printing and Design class at Pioneer High School. He had a love for graphic design so he enrolled in TCROP's Digital Printing and Design course.

Program Description

TCROP's Digital Design and Printing class teaches students the world of printing with today's technology. They learn programs like Adobe's Photoshop, Acrobat and InDesign. William was very successful in this course and was also recognized for his outstanding achievement at Tri-Cities ROP's annual Evening of Excellence Award ceremony.

Outcomes

A local employer, Lithographix Inc., which is the third largest commercial printing company in the west coast, was looking to fill two entry level positions. Rather then advertise the positions, they contacted Tri-Cities ROP's instructor, Henry Sandoval. The instructor submitted four candidates. William was the first one hired.

Upon hire, William was given the potential to earn an annual salary of $31,000. It was a full time position with full benefits, 401K and employee profit sharing.
