Student Shines in Pharmacy Technology Program
Young Chen, a second-year student in the Mission Valley ROP Pharmacy Technology program, became intrigued about learning more in this career path after a MVROP CTE presentation at his home school, Mission San Jose High School.
The Mission Valley ROP Pharmacy Technology program has been awarded the California Association of Pharmacy Technician's Program of the Year Award twice. The program is currently offered to high school and adult students.
After his first semester, during his second year in the MVROP Pharmacy Technology program, Young Chen was accepted into pre-pharmacy school at University of the Pacific. He also earned two scholarships of $12,500 each, both renewable annually. He was personally selected by the Dean as a Regent's Scholar. On the letter of acceptance, UOP stated, "the Admission Committee was impressed by your course selection..." Young was also offered a job at his medical externship site, Kaiser Permanente, thus demonstrating how MVROP has played a major part in this student's success and the fruitful career he will enjoy in the future.
