ROP Auto Leads to Scholarship Money

Student Background

Megan Sarnecki was the only female in Hart District ROP history to have completed 4 semesters of automotive classes. She received 40 credits in automotive elective credits. Her advisor, Karen Varela, remembers Megan as a terrific young lady who was always in class and always on time. She was happy to help other students and kept her instructor on his toes. She was determined and driven at an early age. Her dream job is working on the Nascar circuit. It is said that Megan lives and breathes automobiles. In fact, her blood type is 30 weight!

Program Description

Megan took Hart ROP Automotive Maintenance and Operations which introduces students to automotive maintenance and repair concepts. Topics include: basic theory of operation, maintenance and minor repair of engine and other auto components. She also completed Auto Steering & Suspension classes to learn theory, diagnosis and repair procedures of modern suspension and steering systems on import and domestic vehicles. This course is articulated with College of the Canyons Automotive Steering, Suspension & Alignment.

Outcomes

One significant outcome of Megan's time in Hart ROP Auto is that she won a Bridgestone/Firestone Scholarship which she was able to use as a down payment for an early acceptance at Universal Technical Institute.
